How to connect Crystal reports with mysql database

I have been searching and reading many forums and articles on how to connect MySql Database with Crystal Reports using Visual Studio 2005 but none of these provided me the correct and error-free answer. According to my survey, many of us had faced this problem. I am here today to reveal the code on how to make the connection successful.

TUTORIAL :

With the crystal report open , go to Database Expert in Visual Studio 2005 and expand the Create New Connection Node and then double click on the ODBC (RDO) . A new form will appear. Check the ENTER CONNECTION STRING radiobutton and enter the connection string manually.

The manual connection string should be –

Driver = {MySQL ODBC 3.51 Driver};DATASOURCE=.;PORT=3306;DATABASE=Name of  your Database;USER=root;PASSWORD=;OPTION=3

After that click the next button and you will see that a form appears asking you the Server Name and its credentials. Put MySql as the server name and enter your own credentials and click the finish button.

Now you have successfully created a connection with MySql Database.

(N.B – Download the ODBC 3.51 Driver from the vendor websites.)
